NEW BEDFORD -- Joseph C. Hebert, 83, of New Bedford died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Dolora M. (Morin) Hebert; they were married more than 48 years. Born in Rogersville, New Brunswick, the son of the late Thomas and Florine (Bourgeois) Hebert, he lived in New Bedford most of his life. He was a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. He formerly worked at Blue Ribbon Laundry; he retired from Purity Services. Mr. Hebert was a tech 5 in the Army, 3159th Signal Service Battalion, during World War II. He fought in Normandy and Northern France and received several medals and ribbons. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Freetown; he was a member of the St. Anthony Seniors. He enjoyed bowling and watching the Red Sox and Patriots. He was a caller at many bingo games. He loved his family. Survivors include his widow; three sons, Thomas P. Hebert, and his wife, Donna, of Fairhaven, Robert R. Hebert, and his wife, June, of Acushnet, and David J. Hebert, and his wife, Therese, of New Bedford; a daughter, Therese Kramer, and her husband, James, of Uxbridge; five grandchildren; a brother, Abel Hebert, and his wife, Cecile, of New Bedford; and a niece and nephew. His funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd.
