BLOOM, JOSEPH Joseph Bloom, age 90, of Robbinsville, NJ passed away Saturday in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in New Rochelle, NY, he lived there for many years before he moved his family to Robbinsville in June 2003. Joe was a graduate of New Rochelle High School. He was a US Navy Submariner serving in World War II from 1941 to 1945 on the USS Pogy, which was rated the 16th top submarine out of the top 25, sinking the most Japanese tonnage. Joe had a service station in New Rochelle, NY for a number of years. Then he went into the luncheonette business in Mamaronek, NY with his wife from 1961 until his retirement. He had also been a Manager of Bloom & Bloom Clothing Store in Rye, NY. He was a member of American Legion, Post #31 in Trenton and a longtime member of the US Submarine Veterans of World War II. He loved the Submarine service and was happy that he chose that branch of service. Joe truly loved his country and his flag. Joe was loved by family, friends and acquaintances and will be remembered as a gentle man and a real gentleman. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother and uncle. Joe was a HarleyDavidson man and owned 8 to 10 motorcycles during his earlier lifetime. Son of the late Louis and Ida Bloom, he is survived by his wife Katherine (Fraioli) Bloom with whom he just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary; his son Ronald Bloom ; his granddaughter and her husband, Jaclyn and Michael Zefutie; two great-grandchildren Adriana and Christian Zefutie; a brother and sister-in-law Sid Bloom and his wife Annette; a brother-in-law and his wife, Ben and Antoinette Fraioli and many nieces and nephews. Joe and Katherine had a son who passed away in 1991, Robert Bloom who left behind his children, a son and daughter-in-law James and Olivia Pompi and two grandchildren James, Jr. and Sara Pompi. James has been in the Navy for 18 years, serving in Spain and Italy and is now stationed in Virginia. Funeral Services were held Monday at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Interment was held privately and at the convenience of the family.
