FLANAGAN, JOSEPH A. (JOE) - The death of Joseph A. (Joe) Flanagan of Public Landing, NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 6th 2006. Born in St. Margaret's, NB, he was a son of the late James and Emma (Donnelly) Flanagan. Joe was the husband of the late Kay (McDonnell) and the late Mary (Smith) Flanagan. He was a veteran of WWII 1939-1945 serving with the Canadian Army Princess Patricia Regiment in France, Italy, Holland and Germany. In 1946 Joe attended the Maritime Forest Rangers School and worked for the Province of New Brunswick, he then went to the Canadian Forestry Service for a number of years and then went with the Federal Department of Fisheries. He spent the greater part of his life in Grand Bay and he was a member of the RCL Branch #69. He is survived by one step-son, William Smith of Beddeck, NS, one brother, Ralph Flanagan (Adeline) of Jacquet River, NB as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Roger, Andrew, Bud and Leo and one sister, Rita. Cremation will be followed by a memorial service in Jacquet River, N.B. in the spring.
