EAST BARNARD - Jon Davis, 70, died Dec. 21, 2008, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. . He was born Dec. 29, 1937, in Massachusetts, the son of Leon and Doris (Beake) Davis. He was a 1956 graduate of Woodstock High School.Mr. Davis worked for many years as an auto mechanic, a surveyor's helper, and later as a caretaker.He was a U.S. Army veteran.Mr. Davis was a member of the American Legion, several antique car clubs, and was very active in the Thompson Senior Center. He maintained an avid interest in the woodlands, in local Vermont history and also in genealogy. He enjoyed old cars, aircraft and anything else mechanical in nature, and built micro-midget race cars, go-carts, and stock cars. Survivors include several cousins, including June Denault of Merrimac, Mass., and Barbara Beake of Melrose, Mass.
