OKEECHOBEE - Johnie Martin Davis, Sr. died April 20, 2014. He was born June 25, 1928 in Highlands County, Florida to Luther and Sophia Prescott Davis. A lifetime resident of Okeechobee, he was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed cows, Civil War history and listening to Bluegrass. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his first wife, B.J. Davis; brothers, Marvin, Willie and Earl Davis; and sister, Bessie Bailey. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Judy Davis; two sons, Marty Davis (Robyn) and Jeff Davis; daughter, Melissa Jones (Jim) all of Okeechobee; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and four stepchildren, Larry, Candy, Kathy and Steve. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home with Pastor John Glenn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, PO Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL 34973.
