John A. 59 years old, of Bissell Avenue died at home peacefully Saturday, July 31, 2004. He was born in Corning May 18, 1945 to the late Allen "Bud" Williams and Delores (Cushing) Williams. John was a graduate of Painted Post High School and went on to serve his country with the US Army Reserves. He worked for 30 years at Dresser-Rand and for the past 9 years at SCT BOCES as a Computer LAN Technician assigned to the Corning School District. He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and tinkering with anything to see how it worked, especially cars. He was actively involved with glass, helping to start Studio Access to Glass. He taught Fusing Class and enjoyed making glass beads. John was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish, attending St. Vincent's de Paul Church, Twin Tier Model T Club, and Corning Community College Computer Systems Advisory Board from 1990 to 1995. He volunteered at Watkins Glen International with SCCA. The only thing more important to him than his vast interests was his love and dedication to his family. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jacqueline Williams; son, Michael Schreiber of Elmira; daughter, Stephanie (David) Williams-Peck of Avon, NY; his mother, Delores Williams of Painted Post; two sisters, Joan Williams of Painted Post, Jill Zawko of Horseheads; first wife and family friend, Georgianna Williams of Corning; his grandchildren, Jake, Jared, Emma, Halle, Dana, John; goddaughter, Abby Randall; and his cats, Sassy and Miss T. He was predeceased by his father, Allen "Bud" Williams; and his brother, Jeff Williams. Family and friends are invited to call Monday, August 2, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Haughey Funeral Home, 216 East First Street, Corning, NY. A prayer service will be held there 9:30 a.m. Tuesday August 3, 2004, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent's de Paul Church.
