John "Johnny" William Davis John "Johnny" William Davis, son of the late Rev. Gardner A. and Mattie ( nee Stokes) Davis, and husband of Clara (nee Smith) Davis, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 10, 2010, while a patient at South Jersey Healthcare-RMC, Vineland. Mr. Davis was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Ida May, W.Va., and moved to Bridgeton eight years ago from Fairmont, W.Va. He was a member of Union Baptist Temple, where he was a member of the Mighty Men Bible Study and MenÕs Fellowship. He retired from Sprint as a communication tech after 30 years of employment and Ford Motors after two years. Staff Sergeant Davis retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of services, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Clara Davis; children Deborah (Jaun) Evans and Sharon Davis; siblings Mamie Rittenhouse, Hannah Robinson and Joe (Josephine) Burks; six grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Temple, 28 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Bridgeton, with Pastor Albert L. Morgan officiating. Interment will be in the William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends may attend a viewing at the church Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. Written condolences and tributes may be sent to the family via the funeral home website, www.edwardsandsonfuneralhome.com. Services entrusted to Edwards and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Bridgeton and Salem.
