John Whalley, 78, of Valley Center, formerly of Rancho Bernardo, passed away August 26, 2010. He was born December 15, 1931, in Eugene, OR, to Jack and Helen Whalley. He attended Eugene High School, University of Oregon and Oregon Technical Institute.He met and married Bobbie Zarnowski after she had auditioned as a singer for his band. John and Bobbie had a music and comedy lounge act for 25 years, traveling all over the US. After retiring from the music business, John was a contractor in Oregon and then moved to RB in 1983 and worked in construction for the next 23 years. John and Bobbie both had their pilot's license and their own plane and loved to travel for business and pleasure whenever they could. His favorite pastime was playing golf. John loved life and will be greatly missedJohn is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bobbie; daughters, Nickie Kelsch of San Marcos and Christine Whalley of Portland, OR; son, John J. Whalley of San Diego; grandchild, Christian Whalley of San Diego; and sisters, Marge Davis of Helena, MT, and Nancy King of Portland, OR.Interment will be in Eugene, OR.
