ObituaryJohn Wayne Davis, 92, of Lehigh Acres died on May 26, 2006. Born in Lamar, Colorado and graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS with a BA in Music in 1936. He received his MA from Mississippi College in 1960. He had a lifelong love of sacred music and sang as a tenor soloist in church and secular choirs for much of his adult life. He served in the United States Army for 22 years and is the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Distinguished Service Medal. He served in the 5th Army, 473 Infantry Division in WWII and 2nd Infantry Division in Korea retiring from the military as a Lt. Colonel. He moved to Savannah, Georgia and sold life insurance for Jefferson Pilot for 15 years. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Lehigh Acres in 1979.He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Irma Anna Davis and son, Jay Seyferth. He is survived by daughter, Nancy Plews, of Shelton, WA; son, Bill Davis, of Miramar, FL; daughter, Marilyn Bentz of Lehigh Acres; and daughter, Sally Davis of Cape Coral. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, John Pope of Lehigh Acres; Jack Seyferth of Garden City, KS; Lori Johnson of Shelton, WA; Jari Skiles of Colby, KS; and Julie Munn of Ulysses, KS. He also has 10 great-grandchildren and leaves behind many friends and loved ones.He was involved in many service organizations including Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Sojourners, AmVets, Fleet Reserve and Veterans Task Force. He was an active and supportive member of Christ United Methodist Church.Family will receive friends Monday, May 29, 2006 from 5-8 PM at Anderson Funeral Home at 2701 Lee Blvd., Lehigh Acres. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 10 AM at Christ United Methodist Church, Lehigh Acres. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Christ United Methodist Church, 1430 Homestead Road North, Lehigh Acres, FL 33936.
