JOHN ROBERT GEORGE ANGUS John Robert George Angus, 77, of Chapple, Ont., passed away suddenly at Riverside Health Care Facilities in Fort Frances, Ont. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003. He was born Feb. 1, 1925 on the homestead in Chapple. John grew up and remained on the family farm all his life, and attended Chapple School. On April 23, 1957, he was united in marriage to Eva Irvine, who survives along with their two children, daughter, Teresa Bagacki (Shaun) of Fort Frances, Ont.; son, Terry (Marilyn) of Chapple, Ont.; and grandchildren, Jennifer Bagacki (Nathan Kempf), Craig Bagacki (Ashlie Burnell), Bridgit Kocuiba (Shaun), and Shyler Rodrigues, and great-grandchildren, Tyrell Kempf, and Brandon and Kaden Kocubia, all of Fort Frances, Ont. Also surviving are four sisters, Dorothy Thompson of Atikokan, Ont., Joyce Jackson (Len) of Winnipeg, Man., Rita Westover (Ross) of Geraldton, Ont., and Lois Brusven (Gene) of Barwick, Ont.; two brothers, Arnold Angus of Atikokan, Ont. and Russell Angus (Grace) of Fort Frances, Ont.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred Irvine (Edith), Sid Irvine (Marg) of Emo, Ont., and Ivy Angus of Atikokan, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Mildred; mother and father-in-law, John and Ethel Irvine; brother, Ellwood Angus; and sister-in-law, Ida Galusha. At the early age of 17, his working career began in the bush logging for eight winters with his team of horses, and then logging with Jack Finch until 1968 when he began his school bus driving career up to retiring in 1990. Throughout his years of busing, John and his wife, Eva, continued cattle farming right up to the last two years. He also did logging in the winter months. John served as an active councillor for 12 years and also was an OFA member. Enjoying the outdoors, he was an avid hunter. He really enjoyed watching and teaching his grandchildren the farming life; and his home was always open and coffee was always on. Sharing stories of the past brought joy to him. John and Eva also found great pleasure attending square and old-time dancing, and was well-known for teaching modern square dance and the circle two dance. John will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 20, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Eileen Bragg officiating. Interment will take place in Chapple Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers were Elvin Taylor, James Gibson, Rodger Irvine, Randy Angus, John Olson, and Lloyd Moen. Honourary pallbearers were all of his dancing friends and neighbours. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Emo Hospital, P.O. Box 390, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0.
