Mr. John Pershing Lee, 90, Crane, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2008, in his home, with family at his side. He was born September 3, 1918, in Barry County, Missouri, the son of James Washington and Rosa (Stroup) Lee. John served his country in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant for the 7th Cavalry during World War II. He was united in marriage to Anna Lucille Hagewood on June 6, 1946, in Billings, Missouri. A lifelong resident of Stone County, he was a dairy farmer for many years, and after retiring in 1980, he then raised beef cattle. John had been a member of Crane Bible Baptist Church since May of 1952. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna of the home; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Joe Greenlee, Crane; grandchildren, Jo Ann Greenlee and Jerritt Greenlee; great-grandchildren, Janna and Rylee; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2008, in Crane Bible Baptist Church, Crane, Missouri, with Revs. Robert Sharp, Jimmy Lee and Eli Harju officiating, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Burial with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. Friday, in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in the church.
