LONGMONT, Colo. - John Paul Jordan, 74, passed away at his home March 20, 2012, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.John was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Wellsville, N.Y., to Percy and Hazel Jordan. After he graduated high school, he was a communications specialist in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He met Janice Newitt in Kansas City at a USO function and they were married on March 14, 1959. After attending Central Technical Institute, the family moved to Lexington, Ky., to work for IBM. In 1974 he was transferred to the IBM Boulder plant site and the family moved to Longmont. He had a successful career as an engineer at both IBM and Lexmark, working at the companies for 30 and 10 years, respectively. After he retired, he volunteered as a coach for Senior Net teaching computer skills to seniors for 10 years.John enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, doing crossword puzzles and solving Sudokus. He was a dedicated family man and one of his greatest joys in life was to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He could always be counted on to play a game, sing a song or tell a story.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Jordan; his brothers, Lewis Jordan and his wife Mary of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Carl Jordan and wife Mary Jane of Sadieville, Ky.; his children Steve and Wendy Jordan of Berthoud, Doug and Francie Jordan of Longmont, and Cindy and Phil Vogels of Akron. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica and husband Jared, Rachael, Alison, Matthew, Kyleigh, Sean, Caleb, Danica and Katie; and one great grandchild, Samantha.John was predeceased in death by his parents, Percy and Hazel Jordan; and siblings Beatrice, Cleo, Dorothy, Forest, Keith, Mitchell, Alvin, Milton, LaVerne and David.
