JOHN PAUL HAMILTON III On December 11, 2011 at 1:30 p.m., after a long battle with serious illnesses, John passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto. We mourn his passing but celebrate his life achievements. Husband of Sylvia (nee Magee). Father of Karen, Paul and Sarah. Grandfather to Heather, Hilary and Gavin, Alex, Graeme, Samantha and Jeremy, Emma and Averil. Great-grandfather to Hannah. John was an exceptional lawyer, an active leader at every level of The United Church of Canada and continued to strongly support The University of Toronto schools and The University of Toronto. He had a passion for music, and sung in numerous choirs, and loved the time he spent in the Gilbert and Sullivan Society. John also loved history and his Scottish heritage and was an extremely active member of the St. Andrew's Society and The Military Institute. He was very much a "Modern Major Know it All." We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Joseph's for their compassion and care for us and our father. We would also like to thank Gail and her staff, particularly Judy and Catherine, who helped care for John and Sylvia. A visitation will take place at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave. West (2 lights west of Yonge St.) on Thursday, December 15th from 5-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Windermere United Church, 356 Windermere Ave. (just south of Bloor St. West) on Friday, December 16th at 4 p.m. Instead of flowers, please send donations to The St. Andrew's Charitable Foundation, 75 Simcoe St., Toronto, M5J 1W9 or to The United Church of Canada Mission and Service Fund, 3250 Bloor St. West, Suite 300 Toronto, M8X 2Y4. All people are created equal, members of one human family and John Hamilton exemplified this in every way. We will miss you very much and we love you Grandpa Moo. We will never forget you.
