John Nelson Ames, 66, Bradenton, died July 28, 2004. He was born April 6, 1938, in Lansing, Mich., and came to Bradenton in 1999 from Eagle, Mich. He retired as a supervisor for General Motors. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Community and Tara Golf and Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Anne; sons Erick and Christopher, both of Michigan; stepsons Joseph VanDerBos, Eric VanDerBos and Chad VanDerBos, all of Michigan; and seven grandchildren. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Community in Bradenton. The Good Earth Crematory in Bradenton is in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
