John J. McGarry of Weymouth, passed away March 3, 2013, at the age of 87. As a member of the U.S. Navy, John served aboard the USS Arkansas during World War II. Beginning in 1955, he worked for the Boston Water and Sewer Commission, retiring in 1988 as an assistant superintendent. He was a member of the Castle Island Association. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Strachan) McGarry; loving father of John McGarry of Weymouth, Denise and husband Bernie Campbell of Hanover, and Jeffrey McGarry and wife Selina Makofsky of Laconia, N.H.; devoted grandfather to Justin Campbell and Michael and wife Lynn Campbell of Hanover; and his great-granddaughters, Leah and Allie; beloved brother of Bernard McGarry of Weymouth; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Tuesday, March 12, from 4-8 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home, at 809 Main St. (Rte. 18 opposite South Shore Hospital), South Weymouth.
