Brown, John J. III GREEN ISLAND John J. Brown III, 64, died on January 16, 2015, at his home in Green Island. Mr. Brown was a lifelong resident of Green Island and spent much of his life at Hedges Lake, where he greatly enjoyed times spent with family and friends. He was the son of the late John F. and Helen Corbett Brown, and he is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Riley; his children, John F. Brown (Meg), Sarah E. Dauphinais (Jason), Elizabeth T. Brown (Tara), Daniel B. Brown (Leigh) and Philip J. Brown (Lorenzo); his nine grandchildren, Siera Morales, John J. Brown IV, Austin Dauphinais, Owen Brown, Colin Dauphinais, Daniel Brown, Adam Brown, Evan Dauphinais and Avery Krinsky-Brown; his sister, Katherine Lowden (Leslie), and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown attended LaSalle Institute and graduated from Watervliet High School. He went on to receive degrees from Hudson Valley Community College and Siena College, and received a master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Over the years Mr. Brown had been employed by the Albany County Sewer District, the Village of Green Island, the New York State Department of Transportation and Clough Harbor Associates. He retired as chairman of the Green Island Power Authority. Most recently Mr. Brown was self-employed with Brown Associates, a consulting firm. Additionally, Mr. Brown had been active with numerous organizations, among them the United Way, the Joseph P. Walsh Foundation and the Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, while also serving on the Capital District Regional Planning Commission, the Capital District Transportation Committee, the Municipal Electric Utilities Association, the New York Association of Public Power and the Albany County Democratic Committee. His funeral will be held from the Parker Brothers Memorial, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet, on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 10 a.m., and thence to St. Joseph's Church in South, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., by the Rev. James Walsh, pastor of St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit the funeral home on Friday, January 30, 2015, from 5 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that contributions, in his name, be made to LaSalle Institute, 174 Williams Road, Troy, NY 12180, or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
