John H. Williams WILLIAMSVILLE John Hastings Williams, 80, of Florence, S.C., died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, in a Florence hospital after an illness.He was born in Williamsville, a son of Hastings Arthur and Ruby Elvira Sparks Williams. He was an Army veteran having served in Germany during the Korean War. He retired in 1988 after more than 45 years with Peck Lumber Company in Westfield, Mass. After retirement, he moved to Florida for 17 years before coming to Florence. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Alice J. Van Wyck Williams; son, Peter (Judy) Williams of Westfield, Mass; daughters, Amy (Conrad) Croteau of Peterborough, Ontario, Ann Williams of Florence, Sue Hamel of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Lynn (Tim) Bohl of Rifle, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; sister, Gertrude Anderson of Englewood, Fla., and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and by a sister, Ruth Miles. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., Bob Hope Parkinson Research Center, 1505 NW 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494 or to Carolinas Hospital system Home Health, Attn: Hospice, 121 E. Cedar Street, Florence, SC 29501. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Vermont. Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home is assisting the family.
