John-H. Schools, né en 1925, conjoint de Glenna Yorston, fils de Porter et Lillian, père de Cheryl, Robert et John J, est décédé le 21 juin 2009 à l'âge de 84 ans.
WALTHAM John H. Schools, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Wingate of Sudbury after a lengthy illness. He was 84. The son of the late Porter and Lillian (Marron) Schools, he was born in Natick and has been a Waltham resident for most of his life. Mr. Schools retired as a Firefighter from the City of Walthams Fire Department in 1975 after 30 years of service; he had been assigned to the Lake Street Station and Engine 7 for a good part of his tenure. He had been a member of the Relief Association and Waltham Firefighter Union Local 866. A veteran of WW II he served as a Private First Class with the Armys Company L of the 164th Infantry Regiment in the North Solomon Islands and South Philippines. He received a Purple Heart, an Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Service Star, a Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post 2152 and the Sllivan Post 10334. Mr. Schools was a founding member of the City of Walthams Municipal Employee Credit Union and a charter member of their Board of Directors. He was a member of the Waltham Retiree Organization. He loved sports and was a avid Red Sox fan. Mr. Schools was predeceased by his wife, Glenna (Yorston) Schools, his 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Robert Wood of Sudbury and his son, John J. Schools of VT. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday morning at 8 a.m. from the Brasco and Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Saint Charles Borromeo Church at 9 a.m. Interment with Military and Fire Department=2 0Honors will follow at the Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
