TROY John H. Herb Flanagan, 85, formerly of Speigletown, died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at the Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center. Born in Watervliet, he was the son of the late John M.J. Flanagan and Mary Collopy Flanagan, and husband of Kathleen Greene Flanagan of Speigletown for 50 years. He was a 1936 graduate of Catholic Central High School and a 1953 graduate of Siena College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Flanagan was a regional manager for the NY State Commerce Department in Albany. He retired from the state in 1984 with 20 years of service. He previously worked as a purchasing manager for the former Cluett-Peabody and Co. in Troy for 15 years. He was a retired member and past president of the National Association of Purchasing Managers. Herb enjoyed playing golf and was an avid baseball fan. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Kathleen include a daughter, Marcy Flanagan Davis (Matthew) of Saratoga, Calif.; three beloved grandchildren, Maxwell, Nicholas and Madeline Davis; and several nieces and nephews. Herb was predeceased by his sister, Gertrude Roberts. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th St. and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Calling hours are 4-6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
