KILGOUR, John Gordon - Peacefully at his home in North Bay surrounded by his family on September 25, 2007 at the age of 82. Gord will be greatly missed by his wife Mary (nee Gallivan), his two sons Alex (Ottawa) and Ian (North Bay), daughters-in- law Lynette Johnson and Carolyn Morland and his two grandchildren Sam Kilgour and Ali Kilgour. Predeceased by his father A.H. “Alex“ Kilgour, mother Grace (Caldwell), brothers and sisters, George, Jim, Sadie, A.C. “Duke“ and Merle. Gord will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He moved through life with determination and compassion. In World War II, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, a career that ended more than 25 years later and saw him travel the world. He was most proud of time spent with the Royal Air Force in Great Britain, as well as the post-war navigation work with the National Research Council that resulted in the mapping of the Mid- Atlantic Ridge in the North Atlantic Ocean. Flight Lieutenant J. G. “Gordie“ Kilgour will be missed by all of his buddies at the 406 Wing and the Royal Canadian Legion. After the RCAF, Gord spent the next two decades, with a local engineering consulting firm, overseeing the construction of many public works in North Bay and Northern Ontario. He was highly respected in his field - municipalities wanted Gord on “the job site“. Gord finished his career with Northland Engineering as a part owner and a member of the Board of Directors. Retirement was spent with Mary, travelling, enjoying the cottage he built on the French River and playing golf. Gord will be missed at the North Bay Golf & Country Club where he learned the game, caddying for his father and playing as one of the club's first junior members. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Dellandrea, Dr. Andrews and all of the caring people at the CCAC and the VON. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Friday from noon to 1 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 1 pm. A reception will follow in the Martyn Funeral Home reception centre. A private family interment will be held at the North Bay Union cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to One Kid's Place (regional Children's Treatment Centre). 10843426
