John F. Kuhl, 62, of Basking Ridge, N.J., formerly of South Orange, N.J., died on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Monday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. Interment is in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, N.J. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. At 7:30, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge will have brief services. Before he retired, he was a senior maintenance engineer at Summit Bank and Trust, Maplewood, N.J. He was the former chief of the South Orange Volunteer Fire Company, a past master of Atlas Pythagoras SP No. 10, Westfield, N.J., and past patron of Lincoln Chapter No. 95 Order of the Eastern Star. He was the devoted son of Barbara Palmer Kuhl and the late Mathias Fritz Kuhl; dear brother of Nancy Gervasio, Donna Schroeder, Ronald A. Kuhl, and Janet Baker; beloved uncle of Barbara, Joseph, Katrina, Alyssa, Ronald Jr., Sonny and Jessica, and great-uncle of Sonny Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations to the New Jersey Eastern Star Home, 111 Finderne Ave., Bridgewater, N.J. 08807 would be appreciated.
