John F. Jennings III of Short Hill, N.J., died July 21, 2013. Graveside services will be held at Temple B'nai Abraham Memorial Park, Union, N.J., on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 12 noon. Arrangements are by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, 2950 Vauxhall Rd., Union N.J. Mr. Jennings was an attorney with law offices in East Orange, N.J., and Short Hills, where he engaged in the practice of law for 50 years. He specialized in commercial, corporate, real estate and aviation law. He was a member of the Essex County Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar, American Bar, Lawyer Pilots Bar Association, and the New York Bar Association. John was a graduate of Rutgers University and Rutgers Law School. He was president of the N.C.A.S. Alumni Association and a Rutgers Federation representative for the Rutgers School of Law. He was a board member of the Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce and their general counsel for over 15 years, receiving their lifetime achievement award. He was also a board member of the Camptown Improvement District in Irvington, N.J. John served in the United States Army and Reserve and had his private pilot's license and instrument-rated certificates. He loved to fly and had his own plane at Morristown Airport. Aside from being an attorney, there wasn't much he couldn't do, including automotive, electrical, plumbing and construction projects. Mr. Jennings was born in Elizabeth, N.J., to the late Ethel Litchenstein and John Jennings Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife and lifetime partner, Eleanor Brody Jennings; brother, Tom Jennings and his wife, Glenyse; sister, Patricia Hacker; sister-in-law, Gloria Brody, and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
