King, John EdwardApril 11, 1924 - March 16, 2014John Edward King, 89, of Sarasota FL.He is survived by his wife Betty D King of 67 years, and 4 children Nikki King Holler, Penny King Bennett, John James King II and Amy King, 12 grand children and 8 great grand children.He was a veteran of World War II and earned his purple heart on D Day. He is preceded in death by his grandson Sra John Edward King II.He was a designer and builder of custom homes in the Oaks, Landings, River Wilderness and many other communities. He built and flew model airplanes. He owned the first model airplane shop in Sarasota. His life long dream of flying was obtained in 1980 when he received his pilot license.Service will be March 28, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sarasota National Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Tidewell Hospice or Alzheimer's Research.
