ALBANY John Earl Thomas II (Jay), age 48, suddenly departed this life on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 into eternal rest. John is survived by his wife, Joanne (Lucas) Thomas; sons, Ronald, Andrell (Kelli), John E. III, Jason, James Harris and Chester; daughter, Marshay; stepdaughter, Sheila Miller; two grandsons; seven granddaughters; stepfather, Arthur Lee Croons; four brothers, Richard Burden of Dothan, Ala., Rev. Eddie Bray of Columbus, Ga., Charles Croons (Monica) of Troy, N.Y. and Ronald Thomas (Faith) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sisters, Mattie Bray and Lois Thomas of Dothan, Ala.; father-in-law, Joseph Lucas; dear friend, Linda Watkins and a host of other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Mae Croons and father, Connie Burden. Services will be held at Gibson's Funeral Home, 144 Eagle St., Utica, N.Y. on December 9, 2003 at 12 noon to 1 p.m. Interment at Forest Hills Cemetery, Utica, N.Y.
