JOHN DEKKER LANSING, IL John Dekker, age 91 of Lansing, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014. He is survived by his two daughters: Marlene (Dennis) Nicksic of Florida and Nancy (Ken) Norris of Indiana; grandson, Dirk (Amber Young) Nicksic; sister, Janet (late Dr. Owen) Gesink; brother, Wesley (Arlene) Dekker; and sisters- in-law: Irene, Irene, and Aleda. Mr. Dekker was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (nee Klein) in 2009; grandson, Adam Nicksic; brothers: Louis, Arnold, and James; and sister, Eunice and Mike VanBaren. Funeral services for Mr. Dekker will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL with Pastor Jeff Bulthuis officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Lansing. Friends are invited to visit with Mr. Dekker's family from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Ave., Munster, IN 46321. Mr. Dekker was a lifetime member of the Munster Christian Reformed Church. A member of the Greatest Generation, he honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Surgical and Medical Technician.
