USMC, Ret. EVANS, Ga. - Graveside Services for SSgt. John P. Davis, USMC, Ret., 94, of Waterford Drive, who entered into rest May 31, 2013, will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. SSgt. Davis was a native of San Angelo, TX, having made Evans his home for the past 24 years. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific and Japanese Campaigns and retired from United States Marine Corps with 20 years of service. SSgt. Davis was a man with a gentle soul who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his three puppies. One of his favorite past times was giving treats to his puppies. He was an expert scrabble and cribbage player. SSgt. Davis was preceded in death by his wife Lionny Lebhar Davis and a daughter, Josephine Davis Wallace. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Joseph Rovira, Evans, GA; 2 grandchildren, Lisa Harrell and Jeffrey Braddy; 3 great-grandchildren, Grace Harrell, Ava Harrell and Mason Harrell. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Monday evening from 5 until 7. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Aiken-Augusta Warrior Project, 4115 Columbia Road, Suite 5-33, Martinez, GA 30907-0410.
