OBITUARY JOHN CUTHBERT AMES Born in London, England November 12, 1919 and died on September 24, 2006 at the age of eighty-six years. Beloved husband of Bettie (Randolph) for sixty years. He also leaves to mourn his younger son Jeffrey (Claudette) as well as grandchildren Michael and Christine, brothers Cecil of White Rock BC and Melburn of Burnaby, BC, his sister Patricia (McCoubrey) of Winfield BC and their spouses, children and other extended family and friends. John was predeceased by his elder son Randy who lost his life in a hang-gliding accident at Fort Langley, BC on August 30, 2000. During World War II he served in the Canadian Army as a re-inforcement officer upon arrival in the UK and in 1943 was posted as Captain to 8th Canadian Infantry Brigade RCASC. He was a faithful member of the Anglican Church of Canada at Winnipeg, Montreal and Vancouver. He enjoyed a career of more than 47 years with Canadian Pacific Limited, where he was employed in both the Operating departments and the office of the Secretary at Montreal. He was appointed Vice-President and Secretary of the Company in 1972, a position he held until his retirement in 1984. During his retirement years spent in Tsawwassen, BC, he was an active member of Saint Davids Anglican Church in that community. He made many friends during his life in the Army, in the business world and in the Anglican Church. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. M. Ray and the staff of the Delta Hospital Extended Care Unit for their special care. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Saint Davids Anglican Church, 1115-51A Street, Tsawwassen.
