John Dean Crain, II, 73, of 121 Knollwood Lane, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.Born in Greenville, he was the son of Caroline Inman Crain and the late James Wilson Crain.He was a 1954 graduate of Greenville High School and played basketball with the undefeated Red Raiders 1954 State Champions. Earning a basketball scholarship, he went on to obtain his B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity.Mr. Crain was the owner of Eastern Design Services and Crain Search, Inc.He was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church and attended Horizon Presbyterian Church. He was an original member of Vince's Bible Study Buddies. He was a longtime member of the Cleveland Street YMCA, the Poinsett Club and the Greenville Country Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his time playing with the Furman Good Guys. He was a veteran of the United States Army.Surviving are a daughter, Molly Crain Achille and husband, Jeff, of, Greenville; a son, John Dean Crain, III and wife, Shannon, of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Allston, Chase and Ansley Achille, Maxine and Reilly Crain; and a sister, Caroline Crain of Greenville.
