WALDRON, John Clement "Jack " February 5, 1920 July 20, 2008 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grand father and great-grand father Jack Waldron. Predeceased by his son John in 1994; Jack is survived by the light of his life, Jacqueline, with whom he shared 61 years. His son David (Lynn) and their children, Dustin, Ashley and greatgrandson Isaiah and his daughter Ginny (Joff) Barlow and their children Delaney, Jocelanne and Jack. His grand-daughter, (John's daughter) Lori (Bruce) and great-grand daughter Miranda. Jack is also survived by his sister-in-law Ethel Waldron and his brother-in-law and best friend Tom Ralph, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to William and Barbara Waldron. He moved to Victoria at the age of 6 and grew up in Esquimalt, with his brother Bill and sister Betty and attended Lampson Street School. In 1937, at the age of 17 he joined the RCN as a boy seaman. He proudly served on many destroyers during WWII, advancing to the rank of Chief Petty Officer at the age of 23. He then carried on his career as the Chief Physical Training Instructor at CFB Stadacona and CFB Naden. A tremendous athlete, an avid soccer player and one of the few "A" Squash players on the Pacific Coast, he retired from the RCN in 1962, after 25 years service. He pursued a career in Corrections and later Real Estate. He enjoyed his retirement showing & raising Miniature & Toy poodles with his wife and loved trailering and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. Jack was a "class act" all the way to the end. He loved and cared deeply for his family like no other and was a true gentleman to all who knew him. Our family would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Dr.Brock Fraser and Donna and the home support nursing network for taking such great care of him. His RCA's Pat, Rhonda, Arliss and Lily for making his last days bearable and to Deborah for making his garden lovely and our Judy for making his home beautiful. Our deepest gratitude to Kristina, Hospice RN, for enabling him to complete his journey with dignity, surrounded by love. In lieu of service, the family will be having a open house to celebrate Jack's life, at the family home, 3505 Promenade Crescent, Victoria on Tuesday, July 29 from 1-4 pm. Donations may be made in Jack's memory to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation, c/o Tribute Program, 938 West 28th Avenue, Vancouver BC, V5Z 4H4. "Goodnight Sweety" Condolences for the family may be offered at www.mccallbros.com 487167
