MILLER, John Clayton BA, LLB - Aug .9, 1925 - Nov. 13, 2007 - passed away peacefully at home on November 13, 2007 in his 83rd year, surrounded by family and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Margaret and George Miller and his wife Nancy Miller (Robson). Much loved father of Victoria Miller (Robert Andrews) Ottawa and Robson Miller (Vancouver, B.C). Sadly missed by his grandchildren Chris and Sean Tasse, and Deirdre and Lyndon Andrews. Dear brother of Verna Fox (Doug) of Cambridge, Ont. and Uncle to Elizabeth Motz (Stephen) of San Antonio, Texas. John was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his partner of five years, Bessie Hubble, and her family. Visitation was held at Belleville Funeral Home, Belleville. A memorial service was held in The First Pentecostal Church, Belleville with Committal Service by Reverend A.W. MacLauchlan, and a message by Shawn Stickler. Tributes were by Victoria Miller, Robson Miller, Doug Fox , Nancy Chatten, Justice Tom Lally, and Bill Proctor. A beautiful medley of songs was performed by Tola Kalejaiye. Cremation followed the service. Born in Tara, Ontario, John was a Lifetime Member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, and former Captain with the Royal Canadian Dragoons, Royal Canadian Army. He graduated with Honours in1949 from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. John was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 1951 and in Ontario in 1954. He had a private law practice in Toronto from 1954 to 1959. From 1959 to 1967 he worked for Polymer Corporation in Sarnia where he did a lot of world travelling. From 1967 to 1970 John worked at the Ontario Securities Commission in Toronto. During his time in Sarnia he spent 8 years as a Trustee with the Lambton County Board of Education, with four of those years as Chairman and President of the Ontario School Trustees. John was Solicitor for the City of Belleville and area from 1970 until he opened his own private practice in 1980. He had law offices in Belleville and Stirling and retired in 2004. After retiring, John travelled extensively in Great Britian,Europe, Australia and Asia. He shared his last 5 years with Bessie Hubble, enjoying life and travelling throughout the southern United States and western Canada each winter and spending the summers at community fiddle festivals. John always received great enjoyment from spending time with family and friends.John touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all. 10918326
