Lane and Wilma Hyatt, a Buncombe County native, and attended Sardis UMC. He was a Veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, a passionate fan of NASCAR, and an enthusiastic storyteller of times past.He is survived by his brother, Norburn and his wife, Martha; children Sonja Allen and her husband, Larry, and Jon Hyatt; grandchildren Keri, Mallory, Jason and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Jace, Julian, and Aaron.The family would like to thank all who have helped and visited with him through his journey including the Valor Hospice team and the VA Medical Center.A memorial service and military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 6 in the chapel of the Western NC Veteran's Cemetery.
