JOHN "JACK" DOUGLAS COOPERJack passed away Sunday September 8, 2013 after a lifetime struggle with poor health. Born in Prince Albert, SK to William and Lilian Cooper on August 29, 1934, he graduated from P.A.C.I. in 1951 and became a passenger clerk with the CNR for 8 years. In 1959 he married Marilyn Ann Henry and began studies at the U of S that same year. He completed his law degree in 1964 and articled with Moss & Wimmer in Regina. In 1966 Jack and Marilyn chose Moose Jaw where he practiced law with Grayson & Co. until failing health forced him to retire. Mr. Cooper was involved for many years with St.Anthony's Home, serving on the Advisory Board; with Providence Hospital where he served as Board Chairman; and later with Providence Place where he served on the Ethics Committee. Predeceased by his parents, eldest brother William Leslie Cooper, niece Kathy Cooper, brother-in-law Bill Iwasyk, and nephews Kirk and David Iwasyk, Jack is survived by Marilyn Ann, his wife of 53 years; sons William David (Denise) and their family Chris, Jordan, Andrew, and Dylan; John (Jan) and their family Rena (Nevon), Tera, and Cole; step-daughter Mary (Randy) Bjur and their family Candice and Trina; great- step-grandchildren Anyka and Kyler; brother Dr. Bob (Anne) Cooper, sister Ruth (Dr. Peter) Woodrow; sisters-in-law Jean Iwasyk and Louise (Lloyd) Waddell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday September 14, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Larry Hasmatali will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later time. Memorial donations to Providence Place Foundation, 100 2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1B8, or to a charity of choice, would be appreciated.
