JOHN C.MILLER, 89B & O Railroad INDIAN LAKE ESTATES - Mr. John C. Miller, 89, of Indian Lake Estates, Florida, died Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Palm Terrace Hospice House in Lakeland, of cancer. He was born January 7, 1918 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania the son of Irvin and "Lou" Miller who preceded him in death. He moved to Indian Lake Estates twenty-eight years ago from Punxsutawney. John graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1936 and was employed at the National Hotel from 1937-1941. He was a conductor and yard foremen for the B & O, and then C & O Railroad from 1941 until 1979. After he retirement he divided his time between Pennsylvania in the summer months and Florida in the winter. He entered the military in June 1941. He served in the Coast Artillery from 1941 -1942 the Air Force 1942-1943 and then the Infantry 1943 - 1945 and was discharged in 1945 at the rank of first sergeant. Married July 4, 1959 to Romaine "Judy" Keillor who preceded him in death in 2000. He was the last survivor of the Irvin Miller family. Preceded in death by Alice Miler Shaw in 1947, Irene Miller Simon in 1959, Irvin Miller in 1963. "Lou" Miller in 1966, Jay Miller in 1980, Max Miller in 1996 and Ralph Miller in 1999. He was a member of the American Legion Post #8062, past governor of the Loyal Order of the Moose #954, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and life member of the Punxsutawney Area Historical and Genealogical Society. He was a member of the Indian Lake United Methodist Church. Survivors include his stepdaughter Joleen Fry of Woodland Park, Colorado and stepson, Robert A. Keillor of Tampa, Florida, and numerous Nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 11:00am at the Indian Lake United Methodist Church with Rev.
