DORCHESTER, Mass. John A. Keegan III, 35, formerly of Troy, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at his home in Dorchester. Born in Washington, D.C. on June 15, 1968, he was the beloved son of Dr. John A. Keegan Jr. of Tampa, Fla. and Penelope Hogan Rizzi of Sebastian, Fla. Raised in Sycaway, he was a 1986 graduate of Albany Academy and a 1991 graduate of Emerson College in Boston. John worked as a reporter for several newspapers, including the Daily Gazette in Schenectady and for Star Magazine. He was an avid marathon runner and ran in the Boston Marathon for several years. Survivors in addition to his parents include a sister, Dr. Bridget Keegan Day of Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Matthew W. Keegan of Jersey City, N.J.; several aunts, uncles; nieces, nephews; cousins. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh, and at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Rev. Randall P. Patterson, the pastor and Rev. Kenneth J. Doyle, chancellor of the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. A calling hour will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday prior to the funeral. Memorial donations to the Albany Academy for Boys, 135 Academy Road, Albany, NY 12208 would be appreciated.
