->BAR HARBOR - John A. Ericson, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep, June 8, 2013. He was born May 14, 1923, in Bangor, the son of John E. and Madeline E. (Erickson) Ericson.John was born with cerebral palsy. Although he was disabled he lived his life with a smile and easy going personality. He enjoyed playing Bingo with the ladies at Sonogee Estates and loved music. The last 14 years were the happiest of his life, thanks to his many friends and staff members at Sonogee Estates, where he called home.John is survived by a sister, Joanne Perkins of North Fort Myers, Fla.; his favorite sister-in-law, Catherine Ericson of Holden; six nieces, Deanna Willis and Nancy Myers, both of Bar Harbor, Carol Moynihan of Atkinson, N.H., Kimberley Johnson of Newton, Conn., Kathy Royal of Cape Corral, Fla., and Margo Toppan of Barrington, N.H.; three nephews, Calvin Dill St. Petersburg, Fla., Steve Ericson of Martinez, Ga., and John Ericson of Dedham; several great-nieces and great-nephews; special great-niece, Amy Myers; two extra special friends, Hazel Alley of Bar Harbor and Jane Daigle of Southwest Harbor. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Gunnar and Robert Ericson; a sister, Geraldine Willis.A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Those who desire may make contributions in John's memory to the Sonogee Rehab & Living Center Activity Fund, 131Eden St., Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
