Joe Liston Smith, 77, of 4 Lenhardt Rd., husband of the late Juanita Parham Smith, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late William Luther Smith and Mattie Eletha Hicks Smith. A U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from Georgia Pacific, and was a member of Berea Heights Baptist Church.Survivors include sons, Joe L. Smith, II and wife, Linda, of Powdersville, Chris S. Smith and wife, Stephanie, of Easley, and Scott Smith of Greenville; a daughter, Shannon Smith of Greenville; three grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Grace and Dodson Bryson; sisters, Pauline McCarson and husband Jack and their children Michael, Roddy, Daryl, Timothy, and Becky; Margie Burns and husband Bill; and Ruth Traynham and her children, Wiley, Wilsey, Marc, Betsy, Joyce, Cindy and Amy; and a beloved dog, Annabelle. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Smith; and a sister, Joyce Smith Patton.A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens, Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Berea Heights Baptist Church.PalmettoCare Funeral Home is serving the Smith family.
