SANDERSVILLE, Ga. - Ms. Joanne Harvey, of Woodland Drive in Sandersville, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at her residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sandersville with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Rev. Lee Lacy and Mr. Sammy Knight will officiate. Pallbearers will be Howard Darsey, Ray Dotson, Michael Atkinson, Shane Lord, Jimmy Bickham, and Jon Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be the Washington County Genealogical Center Volunteers. Ms. Harvey was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Harry Barrett and the late Ethel New Barrett. She was a medical technologist serving as the lab director for the Washington County Regional Medical Center before retirement. Ms. Harvey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville, a volunteer at the Washington County Genealogy Center, and member of the Washington County Historical Society. She is predeceased by her sister, Margaret Mathis. Survivors are her children, Dr. Mark Raymond Harvey (Lisa) of Sandersville, Layne Barrett Harvey Kitchens (Kim) of Harrison, and Lisa Kathryn Harvey (Jim Mathys) of Sandersville; grandchildren, Caroline Joanne Harvey, Andrew Mark Harvey, Nathaniel Kim Kitchens, and Christopher Raymond Kitchens; brothers, William Jordan Barrett of Birmingham, Ala. and Harry Wood Barrett of Fairfield Calif. The family will be at the Harvey residence, 631 Woodland Dr., Sandersville and will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home, 1119 Riddleville Rd., Sandersville.
