Retired attorney Joan S. Cauley (75) died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at Hollywood Medical Center, Hollywood, FL. Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Tom Foley) of St. Augustine, FL, Helen (Jeffrey Terry) of Conesus, NY and a son, Tony (Jean Marie Bresnock) of Burlington, VT and eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine and Daniel Foley, Michael, Lucas and Jacob Terry and Joseph and Alexander Cauley. In addition, Ms. Cauley is survived by two brothers, Paul B. Kelly of Allegany, NY and John D. Kelly of Washington D.C. Born Joan Kelly in Pine Plains, NY, Ms. Cauley graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Rochester, NY and Brescia College in London, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from University of Buffalo Law School in 1950 and practiced law in Rochester, NY and at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington D.C. before moving to Nunda, NY with her husband, Joseph M. Cauley, in 1960. There they had a law partnership, Cauley & Cauley, which Ms. Cauley continued to operate after her husband's death in 1985. Ms. Cauley served as the NY State Estate Tax Attorney for Livingston County. She was a member of the Livingston County Bar Association, a Trustee of the State University of NY at Geneseo and was an active member of the local Democratic Party. She retired from law practice in 1993 and moved to Pompano Beach, FL. An interment ceremony will be held at Nunda Cemetery in August with arrangements by MANN FUNERAL HOME.
