JOAN MARILYN SMITH, 82 LAKELAND - Joan Marilyn Smith, 82, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at "The Estates at Carpenters", due to heart failure. Her memorial service will be Wednesday March 21, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at "The Estates at Carpenters Auditorium". Joan was born September 10, 1929 in Roanoke Illinois. Her parents were Ralph John Snyder and Flora Hertel Scheid. Joan was a secretary at the Sears store in Hollywood Florida until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, was an excellent golfer and was a member of the "Cleveland Heights Golf Club". She was an enthusiastic Ceramic Painter and had an extensive collection. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and played organ at the Dania Methodist Church for several years. She also enjoyed playing cards with her longtime friends Mark and Lillian Sells. She is survived by her husband Robert Smith, her sister Lyn Gross and brother Richard Snyder, her sons Dr. Larry Smith, Randall Smith and daughter Susan Rodriguez, sisters-in-law Glenda Smith and Barbara Smith, and son-in-law Frank Rodriguez. Her surviving grand-children are: Jessica Smith, Fallen Smith, Trav-is Smith, Brooke Mc-Kinnon, Alexandra Rodriguez, Frank Rodriguez and Andrew Rodriguez. Great grandchildren are: Mattie Smith and Allie Smith. She will be sorely missed by all her family and the family appreciates all the visits, cards and prayers.
