Joan Marie Maclean (nee Godwin) Passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at the age of 77 years. A long-time resident of Barrie, she was a faithful member of Trinity Anglican Church, Barrie, and more recently, All Saints' Anglican Church, Huntsville. She was active in community affairs (Girl Guides, Brereton Field Naturalists, church secretary). To expand her birdwatching skills, she became a competent canoeist and explored a large portion of Algonquin Park in pursuit of new species for her life list. To deepen her relationship with God, she participated in numerous bible studies, church activities, and the annual A.W.A.R.E. conferences. Joan loved the outdoors and cottage life on Kawaywamog Lake. She easily adapted to the somewhat primitive facilities and enjoyed observing the flora and fauna of the area. She was born July 7th, 1927, the daughter of Bertha and Walter Godwin. She married James MacLean, an educator in Whitney, Barrie, and later, the Ministry of Education, on August 26th, 1950. She is the mother of Heather (John) Cordukes of Cobourg and Robert (Catherine) MacLean of Huntsville. She adored her grandchildren: Colleen and Erin Cordukes, Allan and Sandy MacLean. She is survived as well by her sister Elaine (Frank) Doyle and her brother-in-law Donald MacLean. Visitation at the Billingsley Funeral Home, 430 Ravenscliffe Road, Huntsville is from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral service will be held at All Saints' Anglican Church, Huntsville, on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 2 p.m., followed by a light reception in Sutherland Hall upstairs.
