A celebration of her life will be held on Friday September 13 at 3:00 pm in the Ivy Porch at the Westminster Oaks Health Center. Inurnment will be on Friday September 27 in Cape Coral, FL.She was known as "J.J." to staff and residents alike. A native of Elmira, New York, she graduated from Arnot Ogden School of Nursing. Joan moved to Michigan and later New York before settling in Cape Coral, Florida in 1965. She worked in Ft. Myers at Lee Memorial Hospital until the Cape Coral Hospital was built.Joan was active in Faith Presbyterian Church and served many roles through her years as a church deacon. She loved tending her plants, trying new recipes, decorating for Christmas and picnics at the beach. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Richard L. Jordan, she relocated to Westminster Oaks in 2008 to be near her family. Survivors include her daughter, Danielle J. Jennings (Jeffrey) of Tallahassee, three grandchildren, Kyra Jennings and Lucy Jennings of Washington, D.C., and Matthew Jennings of Tallahassee. Her family gives special thanks to the Westminster Oaks Health Center staff in appreciation of the loving care provided to their mother and grandmother.
