SHIPTON, Joan Louise (nee Osborne) 1930 - 2007 Peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, 20 April 2007 at the Ottawa General after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her brother Lawrence Osborne. Beloved wife of James for 54 years. Loving mother of Holly (Francis Savage) and Cindy (Steve Mitchell), grandmother of Laura, Emily, Sarah and James. Fondly remembered by step-grandchildren Nicholas, Bess, and Julia Savage. Dear aunt of Lynn (Dennis Gleason), great-aunt of Trent (Sonia) and Troy (Ellen) Gleason. Great-great-aunt of Paige, Olivia and Breck Gleason in Brockville, brother-in-law of Garry Shipton in Montreal. She will be missed by many cousins and friends. Joan loved the sunsets at the cottage at White Lake. She took great joy in all arts and crafts that she was involved in. Joan was a member of the Nepean Chapter of the Linus Volunteer Group, who make receiving blankets for newborns at CHEO. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Monday, April 30, from 12 noon until service time in the chapel at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Childrens Wish Foundation would be appreciated. Many thanks for the tender loving care of the staff of the Ottawa General Hospital (especially Laura on the 5th floor), and the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre.
