Joan B. Anderson, 68, of Stony Point, NY, died after a brief illness on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born August 16, 1932 to Edward and Marguerite Bell in Suffern, NY. Joan was a Haverstraw High School graduate, a lifetime resident of Rockland County and spent 32 years as the crossing guard at the Jay Street Elementary School in Stony Point. She devoted her life to safeguarding two generations of children making their way safely to and from school. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert C. Anderson and a loving family which includes a daughter, Kathryn Sanchez and her husband Ray, a son Edward and his wife Debbie, also four grandchildren, Raylene Joan Sanchez, Bobby Sanchez, Kristina Anderson, Brittany Anderson and a loving sister Kathryn McCleery. Friends may call at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home at 73 North Liberty Drive (Route 9W) on Sunday, February 11th at 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12th, 2001 at 10:00 AM at the Garnerville Methodist Church on Bridge Street, Garnerville, NY. Interment will follow at Mount Repose Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY.
