Joann L. (Schlosser) Smith, 68, died yesterday at 8:20 a.m. of pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Donald James Smith of Greer, SC.Surviving is her daughter, Shelly Jo Foster, her husband, Michael, and their son, Donald Briggs Foster. Also, her son, Bradley Scott Smith, all of Savannah, Ga.Previously deceased were her parents, Alverta L. Noah, born in Wellsburg, W.Va., and Dr. Daniel Briggs Schlosser, born in Ft. Wayne, Ind. Also surviving are her sisters, Linda Miller and family of Pinealles Park, Fla., and Susan Shamp and family of Summerfield, Fla. Also left behind is Emmitt Wakefield, his fiance, Holly, and his daughter, Moira. She wishes to send a big thankyou to Dr. Gary Spitzer and Staff, also her angel oncology nurses, Angela Gleason and Cassie Marshall.She spent most of her working years as a medical secretary for various psychiatrists and dental offices, with her training received at Porter Business College, Indianapolis, Ind.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Stephen Ministry Fund, 7 Shannon Drive, Greenville, SC 29615, or McCall Hospice House of Greenville, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.A celebration service to be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 2:30 p.m., with visitation prior to the service from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the church.
