Smith, JoAnn L.Oct. 9, 1929 - Oct. 29, 2009JoAnn L. Smith, 80, of Nokomis, Fla., died Oct. 29, 2009.A celebration of life will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ewing Funeral Home. Survivors include her sons William C. (Carolyn) Smith of Sarasota, Fla., Kevin R. (Sherri) Smith of North Port, Fla., and Terry P. Smith of Merritt Island, Fla.; daughters PattyJo S. (Bill) Rice of Sarasota, and Pamela J. Smith of Nokomis; and daughter-in-law Sue Smith of Nokomis. She was "Granny" to Bill, Robert, Ashley, Dakota and Trent. She was preceded in death by her husband E.W. "Bill" Smith. JoAnn was a bookkeeper for many years at Nokomis Elementary School; she was an avid gardener, an animal lover and a Florida Gator fan. Donations may be made to a favorite animal charity of your choice.
