JoAn McClure SmithAtlanta, GABeloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, Counselor and Advisor.Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Maurice Warren & Beulah Maurine McClure. She graduated East High School in Wichita, KS Class of 1950. Studied Theatre & Journalism at University of Kansas and received her BA Degree in 1956 and received her MAT from Converse College, Spartanburg, SC in 1976. JoAn retired from the Greenville County School District where she taught English and Drama at Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, SC. A devoted thespian, she was active in the Spartanburg Little Theatre, The Warehouse Theatre and Center Stage of Greenville, SC. She served as a Counselor for Drug & Alcohol Addiction with Don Foster & Associates and was active with the Spiritual Science Center in Spartanburg and friend to Light Haven in Tryon, NC. JoAn was admired and loved by all who met her. She is survived by her sister Jean (McClure) Edwards and Jean's husband Leon, their children Lloyd, Howard & Melanie. Her children: sons Pinckney Smith, Warren Smith and his wife Beth; daughter, Maureen (Mo) Kennedy and grandchildren, Maureen & Noah Smith. The Family Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Hospice Atlanta | VNHS | 1244 Park Vista Drive, Atlanta, GA 30319 on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 6:00 pm.In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice Atlanta.
