Ms. Davis was born in Warsaw, N.Y. and moved to The Villages, Fl. from Frankfurt, Germany in 1998. She served in the U.S. Army 1978 - 1982 in Germany and the Pentagon. She retired from the Central Intelligence Agency in 1998 after assignments in Rome, Italy; Monrovia, Liberia, W. Africa; Kathmandu, Nepal and Frankfurt, Germany. She continued working after retirement as an independent contractor, with 16 overseas assignments. She relocated to Waynesville, NC in 2011 to pursue her dream of a fiber arts education at Haywood Community College. She was an avid reader, knitter and quilter. She quickly made close friends in NC and will be missed by the entire Western North Carolina fiber arts community, including Haywood Community College, the Smokey Mountain Knitting Guild, The Americana Sewing Guild, Haywood County Arts Council where she volunteered, Twigs & Leaves where her art was sold, and especially her WWOWWW Group. Survivors include sons Michael L. Davis and Andrew L. Davis, both of Pike, NY, and eight grandchildren. The Jo Ann Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund has been set up at Haywood Community College for a fiber arts student.
