BROWN , Jim (James John) January 20, 1924 - April 4, 2009 Jim was born on the family farm near Renwer, Manitoba to Mary and Thomas Brown. He fought in WWII with the "Fort Gary Horse". Jim married Anne Friesen on June 22, 1946 in Winnipeg and worked throughout western Canada as a welder. He had a great sense of humour and loved camping, curling, golfing and telling stories. Jim and Anne often travelled to visit family and a highlight to their travels was a trip to Holland for a Veterans' Reunion. Jim loved his family and devoted his life to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Anne, five brothers and two sisters and is survived by two brothers, two sisters, daughters Sharon (Larry) Matusik, Donalda (Lyle) Spearing, and son Kelvin (Kim) Brown, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Aspen Lodge caregivers, Drs. Loewen and Friesen and Unit 71 at the Rockyview Hospital and Lynda (Jim's Angel). A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the Bowness Legion, 138 Bowness Centre N.W., Calgary on Thursday, April 9 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial tributes may be made for a "Memory Bench" in honour of Jim and Anne, to be placed in their beloved Kananaskis Park.
