Jesse "Doc" James Smith, 82 died March 15, 2010, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. He was born in Miami, Ohio; and lived in Indian River County since 1973, coming from Davie. He served in the Army during World War II. Before retirement, he was a carpenter. Survivors include his son, Larry Smith of Enon, Ohio; companion, Evelyn McManus of Fellsmere; and one grandchild.
