MADAWASKA - Jerry W. Carter, 55, died peacefully Tuesday, June 2, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 5, 1953, in Minerea, Ohio, son of the late Robert "Bob" and Doris (Patterson) Carter. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Emily "Jane" Carter; two sons, Eric W. and his partner, Michael, and Chad R. and his fiancee, Amy; sister, Shelia Daniels; stepmother, Eva Mae Carter; and his loving dog, Meka. Jerry was a graduate of Minerea High School in 1971. He attended Rhode Island School of Photograph and received a degree in professional photography. In 1974 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Maine National Guard and Knights of Columbus. Together, Jerry and Jane enjoyed their travels to Southern Maine and spending quality time with their two sons, Eric and Chad. Jerry loved Jane's home cooking, golfing and bowling. Mostly, he loved people; he found his greatest joy in the happiness of others. He was owner of the former Carter's Bowling Center and Mom's Fudge. His enthusiastic spirit continues in the lives of family and friends he influenced with his magnetic, permanent smile and his embodiment of the phrase "a life well lived." He will be truly missed! A celebration of his life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends are invited to gather 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 5, at the Carter's residence, 175 Main St., Suite 101, Madawaska. Inurnment will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Madawaska. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743 or the charity of your choice.
